Responsibilities
- Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans for ER patients using the nursing process; coordinates transfers, discharge planning, referrals, and spiritual/psychosocial support as needed to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care.
- Prioritizes urgent and emergent needs, applies critical thinking, and works with minimal supervision in a fast-paced ER environment; monitors patient conditions and responds to changing status.
- Triages, treats, evaluates, and documents according to established guidelines; collaborates with physicians and the healthcare team; educates patients and families appropriate to age, culture, and condition, including consent and discharge instructions.
- Delegates patient care to qualified ancillary staff; may precept student nurses and new hires; demonstrates leadership while maintaining professional boundaries and scope of practice.
- Practices under ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado State Nurse Practice Act; maintains infection control and patient safety; participates in quality improvement initiatives and continuous education.

Requirements
- Active Colorado RN license or Compact license
- BLS certification (or obtained within 90 days of hire); ACLS certification (or within 6 months); PALS or ENPC certification (or within 1 year); TNCC certification (or within 1 year); STABLE certification (or within 1 year); NRP certification (or within 1 year)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing or related field
- Minimum 2 years hospital nursing experience; 1 year Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care Nursing experience
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; successfully pass a background check; pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable); complete Employee Health meeting prior to starting
