Responsibilities
- Process and prepare tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation, including embedding, sectioning, staining (H&E and special stains), and slide preparation.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain histology equipment; perform quality control and adhere to QA/QC procedures.
- Label, track, and document specimens accurately; ensure proper chain-of-custody and correct entry into the EMR.
- Assist pathologists during grossing and evaluation as needed; verify specimen adequacy and documentation.
- Enter results and notes into the EPIC electronic medical record in a timely, compliant manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following institutional safety policies and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- ASCP HT or HTL certification required; BLS certification also required
- Minimum 1 year of histotechnologist experience
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years required
- Ability to work 8-hour daytime shifts, Monday–Friday; travel assignment
- Reliable transportation required due to limited public transit in the area
