- Note: The contract may cancel up to three shifts per 13 weeks due to census or other circumstances; traveler must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered

Responsibilities
- Function as the scrub tech, assisting the surgeon and RN to maintain a safe OR environment and ensure equipment is functioning properly during procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields, verify instrument sets, and assist with case carts per preference cards
- Communicate clearly with OR staff and sterile processing staff to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and non-scheduled cases
- Review daily schedule with the charge nurse and the day coordinator of sterile processing to identify turnover or scheduling issues
- Serve as a communication hub for OR and SPD, coordinating breaks and delegating duties as needed; act as a resource for SPD and Surgical Services for procurement of items and instrumentation
- Coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment to support both scheduled and unscheduled procedures

Requirements
- Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential; American Heart Association BLS certified
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program
- Experience: Preferred 1 year of surgical technologist experience in an acute care operating room
- Requirements: Ability to work in a busy, high-stress environment; ability to work varied shifts including potential on-call; strong communication and teamwork skills
- Geographic requirement: Traveler must reside at least 90 miles from the work site
- Physical: Ability to lift repeatedly up to 50 pounds; ability to stand for extended periods and perform required manual tasks
