Responsibilities
- Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team.
- Prepare and verify instruments and supplies, ensure proper packaging, sterility, and expiration dates; support patient safety and equipment function in the OR.
- Monitor the sterile field for potential contamination and initiate corrective action under supervision.
- Contribute to competency with Tier 1 surgical cases while supporting ongoing quality in patient care within scope of practice.
- Communicate effectively with the perioperative team and participate in Time Out processes, including briefings and debriefings.
- Assist with patient transports, room turnover, and room preparation to support efficient OR workflow.
- Maintain currency with equipment and instrumentation, modeling professional behavior within a Just Culture framework.
- Perform instrument cleaning and preparation for terminal sterilization and adhere to HIPAA requirements.

Requirements
- Active Colorado license as a Surgical Technologist (or CST-certified) as applicable in Colorado.
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or licensure as a Surgical Technologist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Strong knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique, human anatomy, and operative procedures; familiarity with AORN standards preferred.
- Minimum ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently; able to work in a fast-paced OR environment.
- HIPAA compliance; ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Ability to perform the duties associated with a surgical technology role in a short-term acute care hospital setting.
