Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the emergency department, including triage, monitoring, and stabilization of acutely ill or injured patients
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and basic life-support interventions as ordered
- Assess patient status, interpret assessments, and communicate changes to the ED team and physicians
- Perform procedures within scope of practice and maintain sterile technique; document interventions and outcomes in the electronic medical record (Epic)
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and ancillary staff to coordinate expedited patient flow and ensure patient safety
- Respond to emergencies and assist with code and rapid response situations as needed; educate patients and families about diagnoses and discharge instructions
Requirements
- Current New York RN license or proof of application with applied date; licensing processing may take 6–8 weeks
- Minimum 1 year ER nursing experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC (active or proof of class prior to start; equivalency accepted), NIHSS; ENPC or equivalency recommended; TNCC must be active or proof of class prior to start; NIHSS required prior to starting
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable)
- Prior travel experience preferred; charge experience preferred
- NY license processing and start-date coordination required; ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet scheduling needs (every other weekend; holiday requirements but no call)
