Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
- Plan and provide nursing care for patients; administer and monitor reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
- Make nursing diagnoses of medical and emotional status and recommend treatment options; consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients; monitor for safety and intervene as needed.
- Document all patient information on medical charts, follow physician orders, and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results; perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the electronic system.
- Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and members of the public by responding to requests for service or making referrals.
Requirements
- NY Licensed Registered Nurse (active)
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association) required
- Telemetry experience or competency required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience
- Ability to work in a hospital-based behavioral health setting
- Eligible for travel assignment and able to work rotating shifts as required
