Travel Registered Nurse Behavioral Health / Psychiatric Job
Registered Nurse – Behavioral Health / Psychiatric in Lewiston, Maine, United States. Start date 05/11/2026 for a 13-week travel assignment with a weekly pay range of $1,996 to $2,136. 3x12-hour night shifts on an inpatient adolescent behavioral unit focused on patients ages 6–18 with primary diagnoses such as major depression and ADD/ADHD. This assignment is a temporary travel role with no guaranteed hours. Maine residents must reside outside a 50-mile radius. Previous employees are not accepted; travelers with hits on background or licensure will not be accepted. The RN will float to Chemical Dependency/Detox as needed and will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide direct and indirect patient care, patient and family education, and group education.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients on an inpatient behavioral health unit.
- Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and educate patients and families about treatments.
- Document care accurately and timely; maintain detailed daily records of patient status and progress.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to plan and implement care plans; participate in and lead education groups for patients and families.
- Monitor and manage behaviors on the unit; respond to changes in patient condition and implement de-escalation strategies.
- Float to Chemical Dependency/Detox as needed to support unit operations and patient care.
Requirements
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing
- Licensure: Valid State of Maine RN license
- Certification: BLS certification; CPI trained
- Experience: 1–3 years of nursing experience; experience with adults preferred; at least 1 year required
- Language/Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Skills: Ability to work in a fast-paced, stress-prone environment; strong professional boundaries; team-oriented and self-directed
- Other: Maine residency outside a 50-mile radius; background and licensure must be clear for travel assignment; willingness to float to detox as needed
