Responsibilities
- Provide direct, bedside care to adult patients on a Med Surg Tele unit, including assessment, documentation, and care planning
- Monitor telemetry, vital signs, and patient status; respond to changes in condition with timely escalation
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders; maintain IV therapy and basic wound care
- Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and discharge planning
- Document care in the electronic medical record; ensure accuracy of orders, MAR, and care plans
- Maintain patient safety and infection control standards; respond to call lights and emergencies as a critical part of the care team
- Adhere to unit policies, ratios, and shift-based expectations; no mandated floating, but unit needs may require occasional cross-coverage within Med Surg Tele
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts (or eligible per state requirements)
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- 2+ years of Med Surg and/or Telemetry nursing experience
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) and every other weekend or holiday as required by unit schedule
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; proficient in EHR documentation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity Med Surg Tele setting; self-m scheduling with recruiter support
