Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room and all equipment for procedures, maintaining strict sterile technique and aseptic practices.
- Hand instruments, sponges, and supplies to surgeons and staff; perform instrument counts and assist with specimen handling per protocol.
- Position and drape patients, assist with patient prep, and support safe patient transfer to and from the operating room.
- Maintain instrument inventory; communicate needs and report equipment issues to the circulating nurse; support efficient case turnover.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff; adhere to safety standards, infection prevention policies, and time-out procedures.
- Document intraoperative activities as required and assist with routine post-procedure cleanup and room setup for the next case.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years strong overall Level 1 trauma experience; must be listed in work history as Level 1 trauma and demonstrated via a strong skills checklist.
- Able to work dayshift, with schedule described as 6:45am–5:15pm, plus call, holidays, and weekends; no block scheduling.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a high-volume trauma/surgical environment.
- Eligibility for travel assignment and ability to work in a hospital setting in the Atlanta area.
