Responsibilities
- Perform cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations according to clinical indications, acquiring high-quality images and documenting findings.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, equipment settings, and image optimization; follow established protocols for echocardiography and related studies.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, adhere to infection control and safety standards, and review prior studies to guide current imaging.
- Communicate findings clearly to supervising physicians and document results in the patient record as required.
- Provide patient care and comfort during procedures; address questions and coordinate with the care team to support patient flow.
- Uphold credentialing requirements for echocardiography and participate in ongoing quality assurance and safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Credentials: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or equivalent in cardiac sonography; acceptable alternatives include RCS, RCCS, or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) from ARDMS/CCI. Additional credentials in one of the following are preferred: RVT, RVS, or RS.
- Certification: BLS required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience within the specialty.
