Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust the plan of care within the multidisciplinary team.
- Provide explanations and instructions to patients and responsible persons regarding respiratory disease processes, intervention procedures, and discharge planning.
- Administer respiratory care as ordered by the physician and maintain communication with medical and nursing staff.
- Accept reassignment to other units when necessary; share clinical knowledge with staff and students.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care; monitor patient response and modify care as needed.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
- Illinois license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- BLS certification; NRP-MHC certification
- Ability to work the night shift and participate in a travel assignment
- Willingness to be reassigned to other units as needed and to work in a hospital setting
