Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to high-acuity med-surg patients on a surgical trauma floor, including spinal neuro trauma and gunshot injury cases
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies, monitor patient status, perform frequent assessments, and respond to changes in condition
- Collaborate with ED, admitting unit, and other care staff to ensure smooth handoffs; coordinate with Nursing Support Techs, phlebotomists, and night unit secretary per shift
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC; update care plans, labs, and progress notes; participate in nurse handoffs and patient rounds
- Support pain management, wound care, drains, lines, and mobility; assist with procedures as needed while maintaining safety and infection control
- Adhere to unit policies, staffing ratios (5:1 patient ratio), and fast-paced trauma care workflows while delivering consistent, quality care
Requirements
- Active RN license in Georgia
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Minimum 2 years of med-surg high-acuity experience on a trauma/surgical floor
- Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; eligible to practice as a registered nurse in Georgia
