Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed respiratory therapies and medications for adult inpatients, including ICU and general pediatric patients; monitor patient response and adjust plans as indicated.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, interpret arterial blood gases, and manage ventilator support and weaning under physician direction; document findings in the EMR.
- Perform airway clearance techniques, administer nebulized therapies, oxygen therapy, and other respiratory interventions per protocol.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members; participate in rounds and contribute to care planning; respond to respiratory distress as part of the care team.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensure infection control practices, and uphold patient safety standards within an Epic-based workflow.
- Adhere to AHA guidelines and institutional policies; ensure accurate documentation, compliance, and ongoing professional development in a teaching environment.
Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential; CRT not accepted; NBRC verification required.
- Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP.
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient respiratory care experience in adult inpatient units and general pediatrics; experience in a teaching environment preferred; prior travel experience preferred.
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years.
- Ability to work a 3x12-hour day shift schedule; flexibility to cover weekends as needed; NICU/PICU experience not required.
- Reliable transportation required; public transportation is not available in this area.
