Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital ED environment
This travel assignment supports part-time scheduling with on-call shifts and coverage requirements (every other weekend and holiday) as described in the job notes. Active NYS RN licensure and required certifications are needed to be considered.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the ED for patients across the lifespan, including triage, initial assessment, and prioritization of care per ED standards.
- Monitor and stabilize patients, administer medications and procedures, and provide interventions for life-threatening and routine emergencies.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary teams; communicate clearly with patients and families; update progress and care plans.
- Perform documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses; ensure infection prevention practices and patient safety throughout the shift.
- Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures, provide discharge teaching, and coordinate post-emergency care referrals as needed.
- Uphold relationship-based care principles, address pain and anxiety, and maintain a healing environment while ensuring regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Nurse licensure (RN)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI) required
- Neurological assessment: NIHSS competency or certification
- Experience: Minimum 2 years as an RN in acute hospital settings; at least 1 year of ED experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED within a short-term acute care setting
- Embrace ED protocols and patient-family education in line with nursing scope of practice
