Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care for Med Surg patients using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Monitor patient status, interpret data, identify nursing diagnoses, and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Coordinate care with physicians, other nurses, and interdisciplinary team members; participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff; delegate appropriately and manage patient assignments.
- Educate patients and families, provide health information, and promote a safe, healing environment with attention to infection control.
- Document care accurately and timely; participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice (California) or appropriate state of assignment
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Experience: At least two years of recent acute care hospital experience preferred; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Additional: Ability to perform essential functions in a Med Surg setting and meet facility-specific standards
