Responsibilities
- Perform transthoracic echocardiography studies, including 2D/3D imaging and Doppler assessment, to support cardiac diagnoses per department protocols
- Prepare patients, position them appropriately, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging
- Optimize image quality and acquire comprehensive cardiac images for interpretation by physicians
- Enter study data and results into the Cerner electronic medical record and maintain accurate, organized patient records
- Collaborate with cardiology staff and interpreting physicians; communicate preliminary findings and escalate as required
- Maintain ultrasound equipment, perform basic cleaning and preventive maintenance, and follow AHA BLS and safety guidelines
Requirements
- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology
- Certification/Registration: RDCS and/or CCI certification or registry-eligible; current AHA BLS certification
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent echocardiography experience in the cardiac specialty
- Technical: Proficiency with Cerner or equivalent EMR systems
- Availability: Ability to work 4 days per week on 10-hour day shifts in a hospital setting; schedule may include variations
