Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care ordered by physicians for patients from birth through geriatrics; operate, monitor and maintain CP equipment including ventilators, Vapotherm, Pap, and related devices
- Administer inhaled medications and prescribed gases; manage arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis
- Review patient charts, take relevant history, perform assessments, and implement therapies per RT evaluation and treatment protocols
- Document assessments, care plans, treatments, procedures, medications, equipment setup, and supply charges in the EMR; verify physician orders and ensure verbal orders are written per policy
- Act as a clinical resource to support decision-making, assessment, treatment planning, and documentation of respiratory care; perform EKGs as ordered or requested
- Perform night shift duties as required by the CP department and participate in routine procedures according to department policy
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in respiratory care
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS
- Ability to operate CP equipment (ventilators, Vapotherm, Pap, etc.) and ABG instrumentation; perform ABG testing
- Comfortable working in a CP department environment and following relevant policies and procedures
- Ability to work a 3x12-hour day shift schedule with guaranteed hours for a 13-week assignment
- Willingness to care for patients across birth to geriatric and to document care in the EMR
