Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the emergency department according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Perform triage, patient assessment, ongoing monitoring, and reassessment of patients across all ages.
- Administer medications and therapies, establish and manage IV access, and interpret relevant diagnostic data.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other disciplines to coordinate timely, patient-centered care.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record and ensure continuity of care during shifts.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff as appropriate and maintain patient safety through effective supervision and communication.
Requirements
- Active RN license in California (orlicensure eligible in CA per current regulations)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- ER/acute care nursing experience preferred; minimum 1 year in an ED or similar fast-paced setting
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and navigate a high-acuity ED environment
- Proficiency in patient assessment, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Willingness to participate in a 13-week travel assignment and adapt to a dynamic ED schedule
