Travel Registered Nurse ICU Job
Travel Registered Nurse – ICU (Neurosurgical/Step-Down) in Rochester, NY. Start date: 08/17/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,082–$2,225 per week. Shift: 12-hour shifts (3x12) with a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays; on-call/callback may be required. Assignment focuses on a neurosurgical unit with mixed acuity, including a high-acuity 8-bed step-down segment that requires neurological monitoring and hemodynamic support. Nurse will work within a multidisciplinary care team, providing advanced neurovascular and postoperative care in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adults on a neurosurgical unit, including floor and high-acuity step-down patients requiring neurological monitoring
- Conduct frequent neuro assessments (Q1 checks), monitor for changes, and document findings; respond to Neuro/ED alerts
- Manage invasive devices and monitoring: EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, arterial lines, VP shunts; support patients with carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, and DBS procedures
- Administer medications and infusions (including Cardene drips and 3% NS as ordered); monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse events
- Maintain telemetry monitoring, hemodynamic stability, and seizure precautions; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team on care plans
- Ensure accurate documentation, patient safety, infection control, and readiness of equipment; participate in rounds and care coordination; provide patient and family education as appropriate
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- Minimum 2 years of step-down/PCU experience, with high-acuity stroke and neurosurgery exposure
- Telemetry experience required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association required)
- NIHSS certification/eligibility required
- ACLS certification highly desired
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity neuro setting; willing to rotate weekends/holidays; capable of coordinating care in a fast-paced environment
