Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for postoperative and critically ill cardiovascular patients within the CVICU, including high-acuity diagnoses and complex hemodynamic management.
- Monitor invasive lines and devices (arterial lines, central venous lines), administer vasoactive infusions, titrate medications, and optimize oxygenation and ventilation.
- Assess patients, respond to physiologic changes, participate in rounds, and collaborate with cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia, and the broader ICU team.
- Administer medications and coordinate pain control, sedation, and delirium management while prioritizing patient safety and infection control.
- Document care accurately in the electronic medical record, communicate changes to the multidisciplinary team, and contribute to care planning and discharge readiness.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the applicable state
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- Minimum 3 years of CVICU nursing experience
- Ability to work 3x12 night shifts in a high-acuity CVICU setting
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to function in a fast-paced critical care environment
