There is potential for Med/surg overflow scenarios with higher patient loads where a nurse may care for up to 3–4 patients. Charge nurse duties carry an extra $2.00 per hour when assigned. Responsibilities
- Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to adults in a high-acuity ICU, adhering to unit protocols and physician orders
- Monitor vital signs, manage hemodynamics, operate critical-care equipment, and sustain ventilator and other life-support therapies as indicated
- Administer medications and therapies, assess responses, and adjust care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
- Respond to clinical deterioration and emergencies; participate in rapid response and code events per policy
- Perform accurate documentation in the electronic health record; ensure effective handoffs and adherence to infection control and safety standards
- Support pediatric patients when stable and coordinate transfers for unstable pediatric cases to higher levels of care
- May float to other departments to assist during surges while avoiding a full patient assignment

Requirements
- PALS certification required
- Pediatric experience required
- ICU/CCU nursing experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour day or night shifts; rotating schedule
- Comfortable with 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio (1:1 when indicated) and potential med/surg overflow scenarios
- Eligible to practice as a nurse in Hawaii (as applicable to this assignment)
