Responsibilities
- Deliver direct postoperative nursing care in the PACU, monitoring vital signs, airway status, pain, and recovery progression for patients across applicable age groups.
- Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the surgical, anesthesia, and broader care teams.
- Coordinate and communicate the plan of care with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals; participate in discharge planning and patient education.
- Monitor for post-anesthesia complications, respond promptly to changes in patient status, and document care accurately in the medical record.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff within scope of practice while maintaining patient safety and high-quality care.
Requirements
- Active California Registered Nurse license (RN)
- PACU or perioperative nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work 4x10 night schedule in a hospital setting
- Effective communication and teamwork skills; comfortable collaborating with physicians and the care team
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program
