Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to Med Surg patients, including ongoing assessment, monitoring, and treatment per physician orders.
- Administer medications and therapies, monitor for adverse effects, and manage IVs and wound care as appropriate.
- Develop and revise nursing care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team; coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and support staff.
- Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and escalate concerns promptly; participate in rapid response when needed.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record; ensure clear handoffs during shift changes.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions; support discharge planning and care transitions.
Requirements
- California RN license (active) required.
- CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS required (ACLS or RQI-ACLS acceptable).
- Minimum 2 years of acute care Med Surg experience within the last 3 months in the submitted unit specialty.
- BSN degree preferred.
- Ability to work night shifts (3x12) and fulfill travel assignment requirements.
