Cordova, AK
Contracted
Cordova Community Medical Center
Mid Level
Step into a pivotal role as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Med Surg, stationed in Cordova, Alaska, where compassionate care meets the rugged beauty of the Last Frontier. This contract offers a clear path to deepen your clinical skills, expand your professional portfolio, and deliver steady, high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced medical/surgical setting. Beginning April 27, 2026, for several weeks, you’ll join a mission‑driven team that values your hands‑on expertise, your clinical judgment, and your dedication to patient comfort as you support adults and elders through acute medical and post‑operative care. You’ll be part of a community hospital that embraces collaboration, learning, and resilience, helping patients regain strength while you grow your own practice and confidence in a specialty that rewards precision, empathy, and teamwork.
Cordova sits on Alaska’s dramatic spine of coast and forest, where every shift offers a chance to witness breathtaking sunrises over the water, migratory wildlife, and a pace that challenges and sustains your clinical focus. Working here means fresh air, a strong sense of community, and the unique opportunity to experience Alaska’s seasonal rhythm. If you ever crave variety, there’s also potential to explore our broader network and rotate through additional U.S. locations, broadening your experience with diverse patient populations and hospital cultures. You’ll have the chance to savor local seafood, explore rugged trails, and enjoy a living environment where nature becomes your daily backdrop, while continuing to grow your professional skill set.
Role specifics and benefits are designed to support your success. In Med Surg, your responsibilities will include patient intake assessments, ongoing vital signs monitoring, medication administration under physician orders, wound care and dressing changes, post‑surgical recovery support, IV therapy and parenteral care as required, charting and documentation, and timely escalation of concerns to the supervising RN or physician. You’ll coordinate care plans with interdisciplinary teams, assist with discharge planning, provide patient and family education, and contribute to a calm, safe environment in a high‑acuity setting. This role offers you opportunities for professional growth within medical‑surgical practice: you’ll refine assessment skills, deepen knowledge of common medical conditions, and advance critical thinking in a supportive, mentorship‑rich culture. In addition to competitive compensation, the package includes a sign‑on or performance bonus, housing assistance, and the potential for contract extensions to keep your skills fresh and your experience broad. You’ll also benefit from comprehensive support, including 24/7 assistance from our travel team—ready to help with housing, credentialing, or on‑the‑road needs at any hour—so you can focus on delivering compassionate care with confidence.
Our company values empower you to advance your career while maintaining a strong work‑life balance. We believe in recognizing your expertise, investing in your ongoing education, and creating a work environment where you feel supported, respected, and heard. Expect structured onboarding, ongoing clinical resources, access to mentorship, and transparent pathways to expand into additional responsibilities or specialty tracks as you demonstrate dedication and professional growth. We’re committed to helping you evolve—from skilled clinician to trusted mentor within a thriving, patient‑centered team—and to supporting you with the tools, guidance, and encouragement you need to excel in every shift.
If you’re ready to respond to every patient’s unique needs with clarity and compassion, if you’re drawn to Alaska’s majestic landscapes and a team that values your contributions, this is an exciting opportunity to join a company that prioritizes your development and well‑being.
