Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for adult medical/surgical patients, including monitoring, assessment, and timely response to clinical changes.
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders and facility policies; monitor for adverse reactions and document outcomes.
- Collaborate with CNAs, unit clerks, and other members of the care team; ensure accurate, timely documentation in the Cerner EMR.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges; participate in census management and patient flow on the unit.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, manage pain, educate patients and families, and follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Respond to call lights and emergencies per established protocols; communicate with the charge nurse and medical team as needed.
Requirements
- Active RN license (California) or eligibility as a travel RN in good standing
- BLS certification (or as required by facility policies)
- 1+ year Med Surg RN experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience is preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts; weekend coverage every other weekend as required
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, census-dependent environment
