Saint Helena, CA
Contracted
Adventist Health St Helena
Mid Level
Embark on a meaningful journey as a Mental Health Counselor in Saint Helena, California, where your clinical skills can illuminate paths to resilience for adults and youth facing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. This specialty-focused assignment invites you to apply evidence-based therapies, build trusted therapeutic relationships, and witness clients reclaim hope. Saint Helena sits in the heart of Napa Valley, with sunlit vineyards, historic storefronts, and a pace that blends professional purpose with serene natural beauty. California’s vast landscapes—from redwood forests to dramatic coastlines and alpine getaways—offer opportunities for renewal after demanding sessions. If you’re drawn to the region’s charm or excited by the prospect of flexible, weeks-long engagements, this role provides impact, growth, and the chance to experience one of the country’s most inspiring states. Start date is 03/30/2026 for a weeks-long assignment designed to help you expand your practice while supporting vulnerable communities.

Saint Helena benefits from a close-knit community framework with access to excellent healthcare partners, discreet settings, and meaningful client contact. You’ll work in a setting that values collaboration, confidentiality, and high standards of care, with easy access to Napa’s outdoor activities, culinary scene, and cultural events. The role also opens the door to working in varied locations across the U.S., broadening your clinical exposure and sharpening your toolkit. Whether you’re collaborating with outpatient teams, community services, or integrated care models, you’ll gain versatile experience while enjoying the unique benefits of the region.

In this role, you’ll conduct comprehensive intake assessments, diagnose and formulate treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based therapies to individuals, couples, and families dealing with anxiety, trauma, grief, adjustment, and mood disorders. Your duties include crisis stabilization when needed, ongoing progress monitoring, and the adaptation of modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based approaches, and trauma-informed care to fit each client’s culture and goals. You’ll partner with multidisciplinary colleagues, coordinate with primary care and social services, and document outcomes in secure electronic records. The path for growth is clear: access ongoing supervision, professional development resources, and opportunities to pursue specialty credentials in trauma, addiction, child and adolescent services, or behavioral health integration. We offer a competitive weekly pay of $752-$817, plus a potential bonus, housing assistance or stipend, and the option to extend assignments based on performance and organizational needs. Scheduling is flexible with no guaranteed hours; you’ll set availability within the assigned weeks, balancing clinical work with travel or local commitments. We provide robust support: 24/7 assistance while you travel, dedicated travel coordinators, streamlined onboarding, and credentialing help, all within a culture that emphasizes culturally humble, client-centered care. This environment supports clinical excellence while encouraging you to lead, innovate, and contribute to program development and outreach initiatives.

Our organization is dedicated to empowering clinicians, investing in career progression, and fostering a supportive, inclusive culture where your clinical judgment is valued and your well-being matters.
