Responsibilities
- Perform detailed patient assessments by monitoring vital signs, conducting examinations, and evaluating conditions to inform care plans
- Administer medications and injections accurately, following prescribed protocols
- Maintain thorough medical records in the EMR system, ensuring HIPAA compliance
- Conduct diagnostic activities including specimen collection/processing and basic laboratory tests to support physician assessments
- Educate patients and families on health coaching topics such as nutrition and medication management
- Collaborate with physicians, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe, compassionate care in an ambulatory setting
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing; licensed as an LPN in Illinois
- BLS Certification
- Experience in ambulatory care; pediatric experience required
- Knowledge of medical terminology and evaluation techniques for effective patient assessment
- Proficient with EMR documentation and able to maintain accurate records
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ambulatory environment and perform extensive computer input; ability to sit for long periods
