Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg in a hospital setting, Hilo, Hawaii. Start date: 09/21/2026. This is a 13-week travel temporary assignment with a weekly pay range of $1,950 to $2,014 per week. There are no guaranteed hours. Shift is 12-hour days (3x12). The assignment supports floating between Medical, Laulima (surgical acute) and, on rare occasions, the Cardiovascular Unit. Orientation is provided for each unit, with onboarding timing coordinated to unit needs.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to adult medical and surgical patients across designated units, including Medical Unit, Laulima, and occasional Cardiovascular adjustments
- Perform initial assessments, ongoing patient monitoring, medication administration, wound care, chest tube care, and other procedures per physician orders; document care in the Meditech EMR
- Float to other units/departments as patient needs require; communicate changes in patient status with the care team
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop and revise care plans, participate in rounds, and support discharge planning and patient education
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and device/equipment stewardship (e.g., wound VAC, Pyxis) and adhere to unit protocols
- Follow unit nurse-to-patient ratios (Medical 1:6 days/evenings, 1:8 nights; Laulima 1:6; Cardiovascular 1:4) and provide effective handoffs at shift change
Requirements
- Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment; applicants not currently licensed in Hawaii must apply upon acceptance
- BLS required; ACLS preferred; additional certifications such as PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC may be preferred
- 2–10 years of RN experience (relevant Med/Surg experience)
- Ability to float to Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and occasional Cardiovascular Unit as needed
- Availability for 12-hour day shifts (0645–1915) and orientation prior to start; ability to comply with unit-specific onboarding timelines
