Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat adults on an inpatient rehabilitation unit, developing and adjusting individualized OT treatment plans to promote independence in activities of daily living and mobility.
- Provide ADL retraining, functional mobility, transfer training, edema management, and neuromuscular reeducation; apply modalities such as electrical stimulation/TENS and ultrasound as appropriate.
- Support cognitive, perceptual, and compensatory strategies for medically complex patients, including those with CVA/stroke, TBI, spinal cord injury, amputations, progressive neuro disorders, and other spine and orthopedic conditions.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (PT, Respiratory, pharmacy, social services, etc.) to coordinate care and discharge planning; document progress and adjust goals in the electronic medical record.
- Manage treatment planning, progress notes, and patient education using Epic; contribute to planning for discharge to home, community programs, or skilled facilities.
- Maintain patient safety, documentation accuracy, and adherence to unit policies; participate in unit coverage and, as needed, floating to like units within scope.
Requirements
- NM state OT license required or NM license pending accepted; must be obtained prior to start
- NBCOT certification
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year OT experience
- OT degree from an accredited program
- Epic charting experience; ability to document promptly and accurately
- Acute inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred; ability to work on an adult inpatient rehab unit
- First-time travelers accepted
- Locals not accepted — 50-mile local radius restriction
- Willingness to float to like units within scope as needed
