Travel Registered Nurse Stepdown Job
Registered Nurse - Step-Down in a high-acuity unit, Saint Louis, Missouri. This travel - temporary assignment begins May 4, 2026 for an estimated 13 weeks, working nights on a 3x12 schedule. Earn $2,040 to $2,219 per week with 36 guaranteed hours per week. Unit is a 29-bed high-acuity step-down (PCU/IMC level) within an acute care setting; patient ratio is 1:4. Charting is via EPIC; navy scrubs required. Orientation is 24 hours; weekend coverage is every other weekend; floating within scope to lower-acuity floors is expected. No on-call requirement.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care for medically complex adult patients in a high-acuity step-down unit
- Monitor hemodynamics, ventilator support (including trach vents) and related alarms; troubleshoot as needed
- Titrate vasopressors and continuous IV sedatives; manage insulin drips; arterial line care and ABG interpretation
- Manage chest tubes and familiarity with external/temporary pacemakers; provide non-invasive support (BiPAP/OptiFlow/HFNC) as appropriate
- Collaborate with PT, Respiratory, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response; document thoroughly in EPIC and uphold patient safety and infection control standards
Requirements
- Licensure: Current RN license with MO eligibility; pending MO license accepted per policy
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; recent bedside practice within last 6 months; travel experience required; Trauma Level II experience required; charge experience preferred; first-time travelers not accepted; locals not accepted within a 75-mile radius
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Other: Ability to work nights and rotate within the unit’s scope; EPIC charting proficiency; ability to float to lower-acuity floors within service line; compliance pre-start and onboarding requirements; references: two supervisory references within the last 2 years; flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); compliance deadlines apply
