Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments on arrival, including vital signs, history, and presenting symptoms.
- Triage patients and prioritize care based on acuity; respond rapidly to life-threatening conditions.
- Administer prescribed medications, start IVs, and provide emergency treatments per physician orders.
- Perform emergency procedures such as wound care and splinting; monitor patient responses and adjust care as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and support staff; document care and outcomes in the EHR.
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care; advocate for patient rights and dignity.
- Respond to rapid-response calls, Code Blue situations, or other critical events; ensure infection control and safety protocols.
- Floats to other departments as needed while supporting core staff; participate in quality improvement and ongoing education.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the State of Oregon
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; BSN preferred
- Experience: None required; prior clinical experience preferred
- Proficiency in high-stress, fast-paced ER environments; strong critical thinking and communication skills
- CRASE training: Required if travel assignment extends beyond 6 months; not required for a 13-week assignment
- Ability to work night shifts and handle a broad range of acuity levels in a rural, critical-access setting
