Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients in the operating room, including preoperative assessment and intraoperative monitoring
- Maintain sterile technique, assist the surgical team, manage instrument counts, and handle specimens
- Position patients appropriately, prepare the operative field, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure
- Monitor anesthesia equipment and patient status; respond to intraoperative changes and communicate with the surgeon and anesthesia team
- Document intraoperative events accurately and maintain clear, compliant records
- Collaborate with surgeons, circulating nurses, and anesthesia providers to optimize patient outcomes; uphold infection control and safety protocols
Requirements
- Previous travel nursing experience in the operating room
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- Strong clinical skills with a high rating on skills checklist
- Burn surgery experience preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced OR environment; willing to fulfill call, weekend, and holiday requirements
- Willingness to work 12-hour day shifts on a three-day-per-week schedule and participate in on-call coverage
