Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to PCU patients per unit protocols, including assessment, monitoring, and intervention
- Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and overall patient condition; recognize and respond to changes promptly
- Administer medications and manage IVs, lines, and devices as ordered; document effects and variances
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and adjust care plans
- Document assessments, progress notes, and care plans in the Epic EMR; ensure timely and accurate charting
- Support patient safety, infection prevention, and patient education; assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as appropriate
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (state-appropriate) required
- PCU experience: 2+ years
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
- Education: Degree accreditation must be on profile
- EMR experience: Epic
- Ability to float to other units as needed; adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment
