Travel Registered Nurse ICU Job
Registered Nurse – ICU (Travel) in Rochester, New York. This travel assignment starts on 05/11/2026 for 13 weeks in a high-acuity unit with 12-hour shifts. Weekly pay ranges from $2,081 to $2,154, with hours not guaranteed. The role is in a hospital setting and includes a rotating schedule with weekend and holiday coverage, on-call and callback responsibilities, and unit-based charge duties as needed. The RN will work under the direction of the Nurse Manager to provide competent, evidence-based care and may assume expanded roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, or committee member as assigned.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for high-acuity neuro/step-down patients, including neuro status monitoring and rapid response to changes in condition.
- Manage telemetry and advanced hemodynamic support; operate and monitor arterial lines, EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, VP shunts, and related devices; administer medications such as vasopressors and continuous infusions per protocol (e.g., Cardene, 3% NS) as prescribed.
- Perform Q1 neuro checks, interpret neurological findings, and participate in care planning with the multidisciplinary team; assume charge nurse duties as assigned and provide precepting to new staff.
- Document thoroughly in the electronic medical record; participate in rounds, ensure continuity of care, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives; maintain safety and infection control standards.
- Respond to urgent events, stabilize patients, and escalate to the physician team as required; coordinate with ancillary services to ensure timely patient movement and disposition.
- Support family education and discharge planning, balancing patient safety with efficient transitions of care.
Requirements
- Licenses: Active Registered Nurse license in New York (NY RN) required
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of RN experience; must have stepdown/PCU experience
- Specialty/Clinical: Telemetry experience required; high-acuity neuro/step-down unit experience strongly preferred
- Additional: Neuro-focused skills and familiarity with neurocritical care devices (e.g., EVDs, drains, arterial lines) and neurosurgical procedures are highly valued
- Other: Ability to work the listed shift pattern, including weekends and on-call requirements, in a travel assignment setting
