Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate high-quality nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) in compliance with the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and facility policies.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Administer medications, fluids, and respiratory therapies as prescribed; monitor patient responses.
- Recognize changes in patient conditions, report promptly, and adjust care plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient status, interventions, and outcomes.
- Educate patients and families about medications, treatments, and ongoing care after discharge; provide discharge teaching.
- Organize time, prioritize tasks, and ensure infection control and safety policies are followed; provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff.
- Participate in orientation and training of new team members; support a positive, collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Dakota or eligibility for reciprocity.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
- Prior acute care or hospital nursing experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced 12-hour shift within an Acute Care unit in a skilled nursing setting.
