Travel Registered Nurse PACU Job
Registered Nurse – PACU (HI-PACU) travel assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. Start date: March 30, 2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,909–$1,974 per week. Shift: Rotating (8-, 10-, or 12-hour options). Setting: hospital-based post-anesthesia care unit care with responsibilities across Phase I and Phase II recovery.

Responsibilities
- Provide preoperative, Phase I and Phase II recovery nursing care for postoperative patients
- Monitor and document vital signs, airway status, incisions, temperature, pain, and overall stability
- Detect early signs of complications and intervene per unit protocol; escalate as needed
- Administer medications and analgesia per orders; manage IVs and patient comfort
- Operate unit equipment and technology (Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair Paws Warmers, HP monitors, Phillips monitors)
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical teams, and other care providers; assist with patient transfers and disposition planning
- Maintain accurate charting and ensure continuity of care across recovery phases
Requirements
- Hawaii RN license active by start of assignment; current state license required
- BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association; PALS recommended and may be required for specific positions
- 2+ years of critical care experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting; may be substituted for PACU experience
- PACU nursing experience preferred; strong critical care background acceptable
- Proof of flu vaccination or facility-approved exemption prior to contract start
- Ability to work in a PACU environment with rotating shifts; on-call 0–3 times per month
- Must arrive the Thursday before start to attend employee health appointment; do not accept start date if unavailable
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with current Hawaii Registered Nurse licensure
- Ongoing professional certifications as required (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC may be required for some positions)
