Responsibilities
- Provide direct, skilled nursing care for postoperative cardiothoracic and other surgical patients on a 25-bed unit, including those requiring more frequent monitoring
- Monitor telemetry, manage tubes, lines, drains, and support devices; assess patient status and adjust care plans accordingly
- Administer medications, coordinate with surgical teams, and respond to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe transitions of care, discharge planning, and family communication
- Participate in unit operations as needed, potentially serving as charge nurse, preceptor, or committee member
- Maintain documentation, infection control standards, and adherence to established nursing standards and protocols
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Telemetry experience required
- Minimum 2 years of RN clinical experience
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts with rotating D/E/N schedules; weekends, holidays; on-call/callback; potential charge nurse responsibilities
- Education: Graduation from an approved nursing program; current NY RN licensure
