Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or assigned group of patients in the ER according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments; develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans; adjust as needed.
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders; monitor for adverse reactions and document responses.
- Monitor vital signs and clinical status; recognize deterioration and initiate appropriate interventions; escalate to the physician as required.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and ancillary teams; supervise and direct activities of nursing staff across shifts; ensure smooth care transitions.
- Document all care and interventions thoroughly in the electronic health record; communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members while adhering to policy and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts in a fast-paced hospital setting
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to travel for a temporary assignment and adhere to assignment duration
