Responsibilities
- Assist the supervising physical therapist with evaluation support, exercise facilitation, and treatment plan implementation for LTAC patients.
- Lead and monitor therapeutic exercises focused on mobility, strength, balance, and endurance; adapt activities to patient goals and safety.
- Provide gait training, transfers, ADL assistance, and functional mobility tasks as directed.
- Document patient progress, update treatment notes, and communicate changes to the care team in a timely manner.
- Monitor patient response to interventions; address safety concerns and infection control protocols; maintain equipment and room cleanliness.
Requirements
- Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in Maryland or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a PTA, preferably in LTAC or inpatient rehabilitation
- Ability to work effectively in a geriatric long-term care setting
- CPR/BLS certification
- Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to participate in facility orientation and comply with policies
