Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Long-Term Care | Lewiston, Maine, United States. Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to residents on assigned units, including dementia care, long-term care, and rehabilitation needs, in collaboration with RNs and other care team members
- Administer medications and treatments per policy, monitor responses, and perform routine procedures such as wound care and IV therapy as appropriate within scope
- Conduct geriatric assessments, monitor for changes in condition, and document findings; promptly report significant changes to the supervising RN
- Communicate effectively with residents and families using verbal and nonverbal techniques, particularly with residents who have Alzheimer's/dementia, to support a therapeutic environment
- Maintain patient safety, perform basic nursing duties, support activities of daily living, and uphold infection control and safety standards
- Be flexible to float to other units as needed and participate in coverage to meet 24/7 staffing requirements
Requirements
- Active State of Maine or compact Licensed Practical Nurse license
- Education: Associate degree in Nursing or graduate of a Maine State Board approved LPN program
- Experience: 1–3 years of RN/LPN experience preferred
- Skills: Medical terminology a plus; strong teamwork and communication abilities; ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced setting
- Additional: Candidate must reside outside of a 50-mile radius; note: candidates with licensure hits will not be considered
