Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' physical, cognitive, and functional status to identify goals and plan OT interventions in an acute care context.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve mobility, self-care, and IADLs, with a focus on safe discharge planning.
- Provide hands-on OT treatments, assistive device training, and adaptive equipment recommendations to maximize independence and safety.
- Document evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in the medical record, ensuring clear communication with the interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, case managers, and therapists to coordinate care, facilitate smooth transitions, and optimize discharge timing.
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, activity adaptations, and safety strategies to support continued recovery after discharge.
Requirements
- Active OT license in good standing and ability to practice per state regulations
- Experience in acute care or inpatient rehabilitation settings is preferred
- Strong assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills
- Ability to work a daytime schedule and commit to a 13-week travel assignment with guaranteed hours
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with an interdisciplinary team
