Responsibilities
- Oversee delivery of patient care through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) for patients across the lifespan in a family medicine care setting.
- Direct and coordinate nursing care, providing leadership to unit staff and collaborating with other RN charges to drive clinic best practices and optimize patient flow.
- Serve as a resource for the care team, mentor and guide staff including unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs, and assist with staffing coordination as needed.
- Collaborate with other health professionals to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care and to achieve optimal patient outcomes; support education for patients, families, and significant others.
- Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care; ensure care adheres to nursing standards and the Alaska nursing practice framework.
- Maintain competencies and participate in ongoing professional development to support care across the continuum; be flexible with work schedule and act independently within prescribed limits.
- Maintain a focus on safe medication administration, diagnostic interpretation assistance, and documentation to support continuity of care in a high-demand setting.

Requirements
- Licensure: Current Alaska RN license in good standing
- Certifications: Current BLS (American Heart Association)
- Education: Completed a nursing program from an NLN-approved institution; BSN preferred
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of charge nurse experience in a clinic or urgent care setting
- Other: Ability to practice nursing in Alaska; pass and maintain position-specific competencies; ability to manage care across the continuum; flexible with the work schedule; ability to independently follow guidelines and procedures
- Travel-specific: Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination required
- Language/ communication: Proficient written and verbal communication; able to document actions and present information as needed
