SMH Level 4 Cardiac Surgical Tech – Cardiac Surgical Tech travel assignment in Rochester, NY. Start date 04/13/2026 for a 13-week contract. Weekly pay range $1,643–$1,727 per week. Guaranteed hours: none. Shift: 12-hour shifts. Setting: hospital-based cardiac service line supporting adult procedures. The role involves contributing to a multidisciplinary cardiac OR team for procedures such as CABG, TAVI, and advanced heart failure interventions. The Surgical Technologist will scrub and assist from the scrub position, uphold sterile technique, and support room turnover and instrument management under unit policy.

Responsibilities
- Prepare instruments, equipment, and supplies for cardiac surgical procedures; anticipate team needs during cases
- Scrub and circulate as part of the surgical team; maintain sterile technique and supervise instrument counts
- Facilitate room turnover between cases; ensure safe handling of sharps, solutions, and pharmacologic agents under RN direction
- Support a broad range of adult cardiac procedures including CABG, TAVI, and management of heart failure devices (VADs, ECMO, artificial heart) and transplants as needed
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety, efficient workflow, and high-quality care
- Adhere to hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements throughout shifts
Requirements
- Current New York State licensure as a Surgical Technologist (required)
- NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician (required)
- Two (2) years or more of recent experience in a cardiac operating room (required)
- Ability to scrub and circulate (required)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) (required)
- Ability to work in a high-demand cardiac OR environment; strong aseptic technique and teamwork
