Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
- Plan and provide nursing care for patients; perform nursing diagnoses and recommend treatment options.
- Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
- Administer and monitor reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
- Monitor vital signs, assess pain, and ensure treatment of pain as ordered.
- Maintain accurate medical records, document treatments, and follow physician orders while safeguarding patient confidentiality.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients; support de-escalation and crisis intervention as needed.
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the electronic medical record system.
Requirements
- NY RN license (active)
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
- Telemetry competency
- Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience
- Ability to work in an inpatient adolescent behavioral health setting
- Willingness to participate in weekend/holiday/on-call rotation and unit charge responsibilities as needed
