Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the emergency department during the assigned night shift.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care using the nursing process, incorporating input from patients and significant others.
- Collaborate with physicians and the health care team to coordinate care for patients across the lifespan (neonatal to geriatric) based on the assigned unit.
- Provide patient and family teaching and integrate discharge planning needs into the overall care plan.
- Delegate appropriate aspects of care to other nursing staff according to current clinical competence and scope of practice.
- Support triage, treatment, and ongoing care for trauma and emergency patients in an acute care setting, following department guidelines.
- Maintain patient safety, accurate documentation, and compliance with hospital policies; uphold professional standards throughout the shift.
- This assignment is represented by CNA and adheres to the department’s scope of practice and policies.
