Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients on a high-acuity medical-surgical/respiratory care unit, including initial assessments, ongoing monitoring, and timely response to changes in condition.
- Monitor vital signs, respiratory status, oxygenation, and neurological checks; document trends and escalate concerns to the care team as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications and IV therapies, perform wound care, manage pain control, and oversee respiratory treatments and devices as appropriate.
- Collaborate with physicians, APPs, case management, and respiratory therapists to develop and implement individualized care plans; participate in rounding and discharge planning.
- Document all patient care in the electronic medical record (Cerner experience preferred) with accuracy and adherence to privacy and safety standards; uphold infection control and patient safety practices.
- Provide patient and family education, prepare for discharge, and coordinate with ancillary services to support smooth transitions of care.
Requirements
- Active RN license in New Hampshire or a compact license; licensure verification (Nursys) required
- 2+ years of Med Surg and Telemetry experience; experience in high-acuity medical-surgical/respiratory care settings preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications; NH ISSS (NHISS) required prior to start
- Cerner EMR experience preferred; willingness to learn and adapt to the unit’s documentation workflow
- Dysrhythmia exam during onboarding with a preferred score of 80%; RTO must be included at submission
- Local rate available for candidates within 50 miles; ability to float to nearby campuses as needed
