Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Implement treatment plans to improve residents’ mobility, strength, balance, and functional independence
- Deliver direct therapy sessions, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and balance activities, safely and effectively
- Observe and report resident responses to interventions, including progress or changes in condition, to the supervising PT
- Assist with resident assessments and contribute to documentation and care planning as appropriate
- Educate residents and caregivers on exercises and techniques to promote safety and carryover outside therapy sessions
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure proper use of therapy equipment and assistive devices
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate with staff to support coordinated resident care
- Adhere to state, federal, and facility regulations and professional standards of practice
- Uphold licensure requirements and pursue continuing education as applicable
Requirements
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant license in Massachusetts
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program
- Prior experience in SNF or geriatric settings preferred
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a rehabilitation team under supervision of a licensed PT
- Ability to work in a long-term care / skilled nursing facility environment
