Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive Med/Surg nursing care with a focus on orthopedic and trauma surgical patients, including post-op recovery, wound care, and pain management.
- Perform thorough initial assessments, monitor vital signs, administer prescribed medications, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (physicians, residents, therapy services, case management) to coordinate treatment plans and ensure clear, accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
- Support perioperative processes, including pre-operative evaluations, intra-operative assistance when needed, and post-operative care, while adhering to evidence-based practices and safety protocols.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, discharge instructions, rehabilitation plans, and safety measures to promote continuity of care after discharge.
- Uphold professional standards, including infection control, patient advocacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements; participate in rounds and quality improvement activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Active RN license to practice in Georgia; Nursys license verification required.
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in a hospital setting of similar size, with strong orthopedic/trauma surgical skills.
- Certification card on file (e.g., Basic Life Support) and ability to maintain currency of required certifications as applicable.
- Demonstrated ability to work night shifts within a 2x3 schedule; able to meet the start date and travel assignment requirements.
- Clinically proficient in assessment, documentation, and patient/family education; capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
