Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care in the operating room, ensuring patient safety and comfort before, during, and after procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and manage the sterile field throughout surgical cases
- Assist surgical teams across orthopedic trauma, general, and other specialties; operate and troubleshoot perioperative equipment as needed (including Endoscopic, Laser, ENT, Ortho, Plastic, Podiatry, Neuro, General, Thoracic, Urology, and Vascular cases)
- Position patients, monitor anesthesia-related parameters, and communicate intraoperative status to surgeons and the anesthesia team
- Document perioperative care, manage specimens, and ensure adherence to policy, safety standards, and equipment protocols
- Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, and circulating staff to optimize patient outcomes and throughput
Requirements
- Active Massachusetts RN license; BLS certification required at time of submission
- OR experience required, with orthopedic trauma experience strongly preferred; travel experience and current OR practice are essential
- Ability to work four 10-hour shifts (7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) with on-call time; travel assignment only (non-local candidates preferred; must reside >50 miles from site)
- Flu vaccination prior to start (medical exemptions accepted)
- Pass/Fail ECG/Telemetry and Medication tests prior to acceptance (one attempt only); minimum 85% to pass; tests administered via Zoom within 48 hours of offer
