Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) is needed for a nights rotation on a 4x12-hour schedule at a 48-bed adult/geriatric unit. Location: Pocatello, Idaho. Start date: 08/17/2026. Duration: Weeks. Weekly pay: $2,174–$2,247 per week. This travel assignment requires a current Idaho or Compact RN license and prior travel experience. Orientation is 24 hours. The unit commonly cares for patients with sepsis, respiratory failure/COPD, post-op care, AKI/renal failure, trauma, GI issues, cardiac conditions, diabetes, and isolation precautions, with a typical patient ratio of 1:6. The assignment is in an acute care setting with a 48-bed census and requires flexibility to float within competency areas as needed.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients, including telemetry monitoring
- Administer medications, manage IV access, and perform护理 tasks such as wound care, drains, and post-op monitoring
- Support post-operative patients (neurosurgery/thoracic/angiograms) and manage related needs such as chest tubes, wounds, and wound VACs
- Monitor vital signs, interpret ABGs as needed, adjust insulin and fluid management, and participate in rapid response and, when needed, code team activity
- Ensure patient safety through infection precautions, isolation procedures, and CIWA/substance withdrawal management
- Document accurately in Epic, communicate with interdisciplinary teams (PT/OT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Services, Radiology), and coordinate care plans and discharges
Requirements
- Active RN license in Idaho or a Compact state, in hand at time of submittal
- BLS certification required
- Minimum: 2 years of clinical RN experience preferred; travel experience required; Level II trauma experience preferred
- Proficient in Med/Surg and telemetry care; capable of IV starts and vascular access management
- Epic charting experience required
- Able to work nights and meet unit competency expectations; comfortable caring for adults and geriatrics on a 1:6 patient ratio
- Onboarding requires completion of core items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing
